"body": "
\"gammad\":/users/1025070 said:\nWhat is this \"trust bonding\" business? I'll continue reading to try and find out, but it's been rather vague so far.\n
\n\nTrust bonds are a sort of psychic bond that Roko can form. It allows them to be more understanding of each other's perspectives, more willing to collaborate, helps align people's goals and perspectives, an less interested in undermining communities for selfish gains.\n\nAccording to rick griffin, In order to form trust bonds, the people involved must “allow themselves, at least in the moment, to be fully prepared to accept the consequences of the trustbond—this means potentially revealing secrets, enduring emotional trauma, and putting their body and self in the hands of the other roko, followed by some manner of in-person contact.” Further more it seems you need to at least partially accept the perspective and ideas of whoever your trustbonding with.\n\nFor ideka, her use of magic is a fundamental part of her identity, so to reject it and accept the ideas of the people in her city in order to trust bond would mean rejecting a core part of herself.\nSimultaneously, trying to trustbond with people who are hostile to you is also hard because theres no way you can put your” body and self in the hands of the other roko” if they’re hostile to you.\n\nSide note, trustbonds fade over time. If two people who haven't been trustbonded haven't been in contract for a while (3 months iirc) the trustbond will begin to fade and may eventually disappear entirely.\n\n\n\n\n\nTheres another comic, Traces Of The Past, that goes into some more detail about trustbonds and chapter 2 of this comic goes into more detail about Ideka’s trustbonding situation.\n\nCurrently working to get both of those uploaded here.\n\n",
