Tortimer wasn’t joking when he described it as an “endless summer” over there – it gets hot. I had spotted some cool looking stuff on display already, but they weren’t in my size, so Mabel insisted on making some specially made for me. Sable, as usual, was quiet and stayed concentrated on her seaming. Does she ever leave that stool?\n\n“Did you know they’ve got rare beetles there that sell for a lot of bells?” I asked her, not expecting an answer. “I plan on collecting a few tonight to help pay off my home loan for Mr Nook. I mean, I guess I could have saved the bells these clothes are costing me towards it, but if I’m gonna be out in the sun all day, I gotta dress smart!”\n\n“Eeexactly!” Mabel exclaimed “See, sis? Told you our mayor had a good eye for clothing! That turban stuff was just a joke!”\n\n“Yeah” I chuckled “A joke. Yeah. Funny.”\n\n“How is Tom these days?” asked Sable.\n\nThere was a brief pause, as if both Mabel and I were astounded to hear her speak, especially to me of all people.\n\n“Ooohh!” I said “You know Mr Nook and you’re on a first name basis!?”\n\n “Forget it” she muttered and returned to her sewing machine.\n\n“No, no!” I pleaded a little frantically “I, uh, he’s alright. Still grouchy, still gives me dirty looks… same as always.”\n\n“…okay. Good.”\n And with that, she never said another word.\n\n“Alright, mayor!” piped Mabel as she curled up her tape measurer with a flourish “Let’s get you looking as if Summer never left!”\n\n“Right on!” I cheered with a clenched fist because for me, Summer would never leave…\n\n \n\n~Author’s Note~\n Another visit to the Able Sisters.\n Seems like Sable and Tom have a history that may or may not be a thing they already explore in the games… Yes, we will be covering that here in time, and I’m looking forward to doing so.\n\nIf you follow me, you might have seen my status update where I expressed difficulty drawing Mabel’s hair from the back. I could never get it looking the way I wanted to, that is to say “on model”. I’m content with what I managed though but I need to practise drawing these girls more often. \n\nAlso, sorry for this one being quite short and apologies for not updating much. Classes are starting up again very soon and I’ve been pretty busy as of late.
