Since Dik is basically \"What if Buck Donner were a Space Jackalope\", it was inevitable that I would draw him being Buck Donner but as a Space Jackalope. It just took a bit longer than I had expected.
I chose the name \"Dik\" because it could pass for a shortened form of \"Dominic\" if you don't think about it too much, it sounds a lot like \"Buck\", looks and sounds like a Star Wars name, and there's that tiny antelope called \"dikdik\", while \"Denerek\" is basically \"What if \"Donner\" but Star Wars\".
Character-wise, I have the basics down, with Dik being a laid-back yet adventurous freelance space pilot, probably affiliated with the Transgalactic Transport and Trade Alliance but rather than working a steady gig with a transport company or as a pilot for one of the numerous interstellar corporate or industrial organizations or interplanetary alliances, he prefers taking odd jobs (including those of questionable legality). This means he's a semi-regular sight at various spaceports, where he can be seen checking various bounty boards and job listings when he's not lounging around, and has probably met many of my space-faring characters at least once.
What sort of ship he pilots (likely a generic but modified freight shuttle, like those old, common but reliable Antillopan transports), and whether or not I pair him up with Domp Hynarr as the Chewbacca to his Han Solo, though, I have yet to decide...
