"writing": "Before Cubert could even focus on his Baking he had to go inform the people setting up the Festival Grounds on what sort of work station he would require, as well as any specifics of containers and cutlery. After that he visited Ivy to set up a time before the Festival starts for them to meet. Now that he had finished all of the little tasks, he buried himself in the Bakery, and set to work on the bigger challenges.\n\nEven with his drying machine running at max capacity, each batch still needed several hours to be completed. After that there was also the marinade mixture and soaking process which took twice as long as the drying. These actions could not be sped up without reducing quality and so Cubert had to maximize the downtime by making sure the next batch of Grapes were already picked and cleaned before the previous finished. \n\nThe Sourdough as well required several hours of rising, setting, and rising again. Although, this process did greatly expand and multiply the Dough. It became apparent after the first two days that the quantity would not be an issue. \n\nCubert was not the only one putting in hard work either as Clay and his team quickly tended to the land above as they created the foundations of the Vineyard. Between the thick wooden ceiling and blanket of dirt there was hardly any noise but Cubert still found solidarity whenever he was reminded of them. \n\nAll too soon the day of the Festival arrived. \nCubert spent most of the morning baking the dozens of Raisin Bread and making sure to give them just enough time to cool. Too short and the texture will not be good enough, and too long and the fragile fibers of the Bread will grow stale. While he waited for them to set he created a massive batch of rich Egg Custard to use as a side. No doubt popular with younger types. Once they were ready he carefully packed up everything onto a cart parked near the Market. \nWith the food finally finished he took some time to more thoroughly clean and tidy himself. Cubert started with a long bath while chewing mint leaves. He took an equal amount of time to dry, and then brush himself smoothly, before rubbing himself softly with a herbal oil to give him a refreshingly natural smell. His glasses were cleaned to a shine and in place of his usual clothes he wore a traditional set made up of black pants and a loose, vibrant, blue shirt that was sure to flutter in the wind. \n \nThe one last thing he did before leaving was freshly bake the final and most practised loaf of his new Raisin Bread. He also put together a spread befitting Ivy’s tastes. After placing the picnic basket in the cart with all the other Breads Cubert then locked up the Bakery. He had to move slowly so as to not agitate the Bread, and at the same time he had to keep a careful eye on the ground for large stones or potholes. Even more so once he arrived at the tunnel that led to the Forest.\n\nHe followed the path that had been told to him in the documents and after passing over a small wooden bridge he soon found the large clearing the Festival would take place in. Even though the sun was still up, the gloomy clearing sat in the shade of tall, old trees, as well as the shadow of the mountainous hills further around. \nIn overlapping circles decorations had been hung, on both the branches of the nearby trees, but also on long sweeping lines of ribbon and cord. There were countless lanterns, all of them already lit. Each one helped to push back the darkness and smooth out the shadows to something more akin to a cozy night at a tavern. Between each lantern was wind chimes, the metal and wood already singing softly as the constant wind gently blew past.\nAt the base of each tree there were also countless blankets and pillows spread across the edges of the clearing for people to sit, while the central area had been mowed and treated to make it easier to dance on. In the middle of this central area a large stack of wood had been prepared too.\nIn the far back was Cubert’s Stall. A large tent with an equally large front window that would allow several Buun to receive food all at once. \n\nCubert parked the cart behind it and slipped inside through a small flap to take a closer look. He found the inside was simple. Two long tables and some boxes for storage. A glowstone lantern that hung on a length of string from the ceiling. It was everything he needed as he had already done all of the work beforehand. Piece by piece he took his Raisin Bread and laid it out neat on the tables, all covered with cloth to protect them from the elements. The Egg Custard he put near the main window, in an area that had large hot plates for warming it up once the Festival began. \n\nHe had two hours before the Buun would start to arrive, and perhaps another half of an hour before food would be shared. But before any of that, he had Ivy to sort first. Behind the main tent he laid out a large blanket, and then a second to make sure it was very comfortable to sit on. He took the prized, and still covered, Raisin Bread for her and put it on the blanket, alongside a pot of warmed Custard, Sandwiches of roast Quail, Biscuits, Drinks, and Fruit. \n\nCubert sat down, checked over his shirt and clothing once more and began to wait. He did not have to rest long however as his Scouts soon picked up movement near the Festival Grounds. \n\nMoving around the side of the tent, he discovered Ivy entering the clearing. She wore a vibrant blue dress that was as soft as a cloud, and as bright as the summer sky. Her make up was blue as well, and even her ear piercings had a blue sheen to them. She spotted Cubert and hopped over to greet him with a touch of noses. \n\n>It has been several days since our last meeting. \n>Be polite. Show that you missed her presence. \n>Give positive affirmation. \n\n“You look wonderful. Very festive.” Cubert said to her as he rubbed his cheek to hers.\n\n“Thank you, you look kind of amazing yourself.” She replied to him. \nHe led her around the tent and towards the picnic he had laid out for them. \n“I’ve been reading up on Baking but it’s not as fun as learning directly.” She said warmly. \n\n“I’ve been Baking a lot but it has been different without you.” \nCubert added to match her feelings. \n\nIvy sat down first and got herself comfortable with a pillow while Cubert popped the cork on the White Wine and poured them both a glass. Once he had joined her on the blankets he cleared his throat. \n\n>Be polite. Show confidence. Be honest. \n>Generating possible answers to common questions. \n>Formulating secondary plans. \n\n“In Sweetvale there are more than three hundred residents. Due to the Dock, and several pathways across the Mountains and Forests there is also a modest yet constant flow of travellers and visitors. In my time since opening the Bakery I have catalogued everyone that I have met and across more than a thousand possible options. I find you, Ivy, the most compatible with me.” Cubert spoke before taking the cover off the Raisin Bread. \n\nShe was enthralled instantly by the way the shaded sunlight glinted off the tiny gemstone like Raisins dotting the bread. It had a strongly sweet smell and was distinctly fresh, as if walking past a whole Bakery. \n\n“I wish for you to be my Mate. And as is tradition I have made a gift that represents my dedication towards you and the relationship we will have…” \nHe continued as he cut a slice of the Bread. \n“I apologize for any lies and deceit but it was required for the surprise. The stories I have told before were mostly accurate, but left out key information involving the creation of this Bread. Buttons helped acquire the rare Palen Walnuts. Sage and Rose’s Vineyard was formed so I could have access to the newly discovered Grapes. I have also invented new technology to help process these Grapes into the Rose Raisins that the Bread uses.”\nHe slid a plate with the cut of Bread over to her. \n“I hope that it conveys how valuable you are.” \n\nIvy took a fork and broke herself a piece of the Bread. \nBut she hesitated in bringing it to her mouth. \n\n“This is a lot.” Ivy admitted as her ears hung low and doubt ran clear behind her eyes. \n\n“Yes, I wanted to prepare a large assortment of food..” \nCubert replied when Ivy shook her head. \n\n“No… This gift. It’s already more valuable than I am.” She explained. \n\n“Incorrect. It can’t have more value than you as you are without value.” \n\nIvy gave him a look, one that told him that he had spoken in error. \n\n“Clarification. Your presence is the most common factor that has been leading my evolution and growth. To evolve into something better than what you were originally is difficult for any creature and almost impossible for a Machine. You are invaluable, as your value is beyond the ability to measure it.” Cubert stated more clearly. \n\nThe doubt behind Ivy faded just a little but insecurities took hold instead.\n\n“I can’t repay you for such a gift.” Ivy admitted. \n\n“A gift is not given with the expectation of payment. That would defeat the purpose of giving a gift to begin with. In addition, you have already given me a gift equal in value in the form of your presence and patience. Although I admit that such a thing can not actually be given. The paradoxical nature of your gift is also valuable.” Cubert replied, as Ivy relaxed. \n\n“You’re such a romantic.” Ivy replied as she put her insecurities to the side. \n\nShe lifted the fork and took a bite of the Bread. \nSoft and tangy. Each fiber of the matured Sourdough was so loose that it literally melted in Ivy’s mouth as she tried to chew it. Adding to the texture was the candied Walnuts and chewy Raisins that both burst with vibrant flavour and complex subtleties. The whole mouthfeel was airy and light and without speaking a word she went back for several more bites. \n\n“That’s the best Bread I’ve ever eaten.” She admitted. \n\n“Thank you. I will leave the naming of it to you.” Cubert nodded. \n\n“Hm…” Ivy murmured as she dipped a piece of the Bread into some custard and tried the pair together. Her whole body shuddered and she murmured even louder. “What are the Ancient words for Glimmering and Bread?” She then asked. \n\n“I understand. Combining those words, it would be… Glampagne.” Cubert replied. \n\n“Sounds fancy.” Ivy approved as she continued to nibble at the Bread. \nSeeing her take such pleasure in his creation also set a hunger in Cubert. He cut himself some of the Glampagne and gave it a taste. Ivy watched his expression change from one subtle emotion to another as he experienced everything she had just felt and then some. But it was not just the food that he was enjoying. Ivy could see the way he was listening to his surroundings and watching the wind rustle the leaves of the nearby trees. \n\n“You seem kind of different today.” Ivy mused. \n\n“Admittance. Over the past week I have found my senses improving. With it I have come to realize that there is a difference in observing the ‘flavour’ of sweet, and ‘tasting’ the sweetness.” Cubert mused in return. \n\n“Mmm. I would have hated to have you not enjoy yourself today.” Ivy said warmly before licking her fork clean and putting it down. She then stepped closer to him and touched her nose to his. He didn’t need to read her biometrics to know what she was thinking. Cubert returned her affection in kind and mixed in a few small kisses as they grew warm together. \n\n“Our clothes will get dirty if we continue.” Cubert stated despite continuing. \n\n“True.” Ivy exhaled between longer and longer kisses\n\n“Should we remove them?” He asked her suddenly. \n\n“Here, at the Festival?” Ivy said as she looked around. \n“Do we even have time?” She then asked excitedly. \n\n“The first visitors should be arriving within one hour.” Cubert replied before pushing his mouth against hers and putting a paw on her chest. She leaned into the touch and savoured it for just a few moments before turning her head to look around the trees. \n\n“That sounds like a good amount of time but what if…” She spoke before pausing. \n “Help me get my dress off.” Ivy then said with a hushed voice.\n\nCubert closed the gap once again but this time he slipped his tongue past her lips and dug into her more attentively. As he did so his paw ran down the length of her chest as he felt for the seam her zipper was hidden under. \n\n>Arousal is accelerating. \n>Excitement indicates enjoyment of outdoor nudity and sexual activity. \n\nAfter finding the seam he traced his thumb up the length of her body. Once he reached her collar he took hold of the zipper and ran it smoothly all the way down to her waist. He felt her shudder as her warm fur met with the cool Breeze air. \n\n>Intensive sexual contact is advised based on new data. \n>Calculating possible range of Ivy’s voice. \n>Moving Scouts to far perimeter. \n\nWith his calculations done, he turned his attention to Ivy. \nCubert let her take a small breath before firmly locking his lips against hers and unfurling the length of his tongue into the depths of her mouth. He felt her smile and could taste the playful giggle as he pushed her down onto the picnic blanket. Piece by piece he stripped and discarded each layer of her garments while she helped to undo his clothes in turn. \n\nThey laid there together on the edge of the picnic blanket for nearly an hour. No words were spent but many pleasantries were still exchanged. So much in fact that even as the first of the Buun began to arrive they continued to squeeze out just a few more minutes, and then another, before coming to a muffled climax. \n\nRight away Cubert got to cleaning and clothing himself. Once he was presentable again he folded up and laid out Ivy’s clothes so that she could more easily dress herself once she was ready. After giving her a small and affectionate bite on the ear he stepped around and into his Stall to start preparing. \n\nHis presence did draw the eyes of some who had arrived but it was still early. Even so he took the time to check everything once more. It was not too long into his preparations that the majority of the guests started to arrive. Most of them were from the town but there were a good number of new faces, no doubt visitors from surrounding towns or even tourists from further abroad. He observed as they took to spots all around the Festival grounds and Cubert noticed that most of them were pairs, with a lesser number being trios.\n\n“How's it going?” Ivy asked as she returned. \n\n“The amount of visitors is increasing but the Festival has not yet started.” Cubert replied.\n\n“It won’t be long. You’re gonna love it.” Ivy said as she hopped up next to him. \n“Is all of this Glampagne?” She then asked as she noticed the covered tables. \n\n“Yes. The quantity should surface?” He nodded.\n\n“It’ll be fine.” Ivy replied before rubbing her head on his shoulder. \n\nJust as Cubert had turned on the hotplates, the Mayor arrived. \nShe took to a raised wooden platform that sat between the entrance and Cubert’s food Stall, with it nestled between two trees on the edge of the clearing. She spoke into a microphone and her words echoed all around the clearing from hidden speakers. \n\nShe welcomed everybody for coming. \nThe Mayor then spoke about the previous Cold and the many new opportunities it brought to the Breeze that followed. Not only the Dig Site, which has now put them on the map historically, but also Cubert who surprised everybody by staying and becoming quite the impressive Baker. \n\nCubert noticed the doubtful glance she gave him.\nIt was clear she was still unsure if he had enough time to put everything together. \nOthers noticed where she was looking too and also turned their eyes to Cubert in curiosity. \n\nNext she spoke about the upcoming Heat months and her confidence that the town will only grow as the next harvests bloom. Finally she wished everybody a pleasant evening before departing the stage and letting a band take her place. As the music began to fill the air the bonfire at the centre of the clearing sprung into life with a shower of sparks. The mood quickly changed as the many couples and groups started to move. Some went to dance. Others sat and chatted happily. But many had their eyes on food. \n\n“Confirmation. You wish to help me?” Cubert asked Ivy.\n\n“Yeah. I’m here for you after all.” She replied. \n\n“Understood. Please help divide these into 8ths.” \nHe then said to her before pulling away the cloth covering the countless rows of Glampagne.\nDespite the good meal they had shared she could feel herself starting to drool just at the sight. \n\nThe first few to arrive at the Stall were the typical sort that came to any event for the free food. Most did not pay too close attention to the Glampagne or its unusual Rose Raisins. But each and every bite they took changed that. Murmurs and moans began to spread across the Festival grounds and slowly but surely the flow of Buun began to increase. Every positive review, every drooling mouth helped to infect others with curiosity and temptation. Before long everybody was talking about the Glampagne. More than half of the Buun sat or stood around the Stall in rapture about what they had just experienced. \n\nSoon after came the questions. \nWhat is this wonderful new Bread? \nWhat is it made from? \nHow much for more of it? \n\nJust as interest peaked he noticed Sage and Rose had snuck around the Stall and were peeking at him from the entrance at the back. He excused himself for a moment and left Ivy to shoulder the gathering crowd. The pair of them had dressed quite fancifully although instead of wearing the usual colours of their respected Vineyards, they had both opted for matching pink dresses. \n\n“Maybe this was a mistake, look at the crowd! Oh Forests…” Rose muttered in panic.\n“That crowd means everybody loves the Raisins. It’s better than nobody showing up, right?” \nSage replied as she tried to comfort her partner. \n\n“The sales have been greater than expected. They desire information.” \nCubert told them as he peeked his head out of the back of the Stall.\n\n“See, they love it. And we have Cubert to back us up.”\nSage reassured as she rubbed Rose’s back.\n\n“Recommendation. The stage would be perfect for a speech.” Cubert nodded. \n\n“Right, we can do this… Sage, can you do this?” She asked. \n\n“I’ll do the talking.” Sage replied with a nervous smile. \n\n“The Bread’s designation is Glampagne. It will be a luxury item with limited quantities until the Vineyard is set up.” Cubert told Sage before ducking back inside and checking on Ivy, who was currently trying her best to keep up.\n\n“Right, got it.” Sage nodded. \n\n“I must return to Ivy. Good luck.” Cubert spoke. \n\nCubert returned to the counter at the front of the Stall to find that the crowd had grown.\n“They are just appearing out of the grass at this point.” Ivy joked. \n\n“We are almost sold out. Less than an hour too.” Cubert replied. \n\nHe kept an eye on the stage and soon noticed Rose and Sage appear. They politely waited for the Band to finish playing their current piece of music before approaching and requesting to use the stage. Sage took to the microphone while Rose did her best impression of a frightened Deer. \n\nHer call for attention went mostly unheard until she mentioned the food. \nWith all eyes and ears turned her way she began to stiffly explain that this newest recipe was called Glampagne, and the Rose Raisins that give it its distinctive flavour was the exclusive crop of the newly founded Milkway Vines. Both of which were located near the Market. \n\nSage spoke a little about how excited she is to finally reveal the Rose Raisins and how they will be a new bright future for the Grape Industry. No, more than that. She was finally excited to be able to have a Vineyard all of her own. As she spoke Cubert’s Scouts noticed that their parents were already moving around the edge of the clearing towards them.\n\n“Are you worried about them?” Ivy asked. \n\n“They are my business partners, and sole owners of the resources I require.” \nCubert replied with a slow nod. \n\n“They will be fine. You’ve given them everything they could need.” \nIvy reassured before nudging him with her shoulder. \n“We just sold out. So, you're coming dancing with me.” \n\nCubert’s ears rose and his eyes darted left and right in thought.\n“I have no knowledge of dancing.” \n\n“That’s what makes it fun.” Ivy teased. \n\nCubert was quickly nudged out of the food Stall and over to the clearing’s centre. He started to observe how others were dancing and moving around each other but Ivy brought his attention back to her with a bump of her shoulder. She moved past him before turning back to face him with a swish of her dress. \n\n“Show me how you dance. Not how others do it.” Ivy spoke to him. She then began to bob her head back and forth to the music. After finding the rhythm she bounced on her front paws a few times before ducking down and moving past Cubert. She turned, hopped, and circled around him a few times with a bounce to each step. \n\n>Ivy’s heartrate is increasing. \n>Biometrics suggest embarrassment. \n>Processing…\n\nCubert took a glance to the others hopping and circling around each other. \nSome were more graceful than others but there was no universal pattern to the movements. \n\n>Dance is a form of expression. \n>Dancing together can show compatibility. \n\nCubert took a small breath before sitting down and offering both of his paws to Ivy. Once she noticed, Ivy approached and gave him a curious look. She then copied his movements by sitting down and putting out her paws for him. Cubert took hold of them. He then slowly raised up so he was standing on his hindlegs. As he did so he guided Ivy until she was also standing. She wobbled a little but with his paws to lean on she was able to keep her balance. Slowly Cubert began to move, at first with small steps to let Ivy get used to the bipedal motions, and then quicker once she found her footing. \n\n“This is so weird!” She giggled and laughed as they turned in circles together. \n\nOthers had started to take notice of the bizarre new way of dancing but Ivy was too focused on keeping her balance and following Cubert’s movements to notice. He led her around in twirls and steps, from side to side to back and forth. With his confidence growing he turned quickly and pulled Ivy around in a wide arc that caused one of her paws to slip free from his. She was thrown back, and one of her hind legs kicked out but before either of them fell, he reeled her back into his embrace. \n\n“I thought you said you didn’t know how to dance?” She asked joyfully. \n\n“Correct. I may not know how to dance, but I know how to learn.” Cubert replied.\n\nCubert pulled her in closer, so that they could both lean their paws on each other’s bodies. Ivy then placed her head on his chest as they took slower and slower steps together. It felt different to hug in this position, but she welcomed the sensation all the same. \n\nTaking a look around, Cubert noticed that some other pairs were trying to copy his new dancing style. Although it was clear to see that none of them had enough grace or balance to do anything more than take some awkward little steps together. Even so, they all looked so joyful in trying to learn. \n\nCubert focused on Ivy once more. He placed his chin between her ears.\nAnd he found himself smiling. "
