Their electrical sense of the environment gives them increased spatial awareness of roughly four feet in all directions. On average, an Orabian may be able to hold up to three conversations at once while simultaneously multitasking with both hands - and one or more of their many vestigial appendages.\n\nThis ability makes Oraborans exceptional workers within the OTC, and, in addition to their unusual natural anatomy, highly sought-after partners. \n\n- Oraboran Biology: \nThe Orabian is unusually complex in almost all facets of life, both culturally and anatomically. Many have described Orabian anatomy as a lesson in biological redundancy. It is believed they evolved from a marine mollusk-like ancestor (squid) and later leaned into certain \"aesthetic\" evolutionary traits that paired well with their natural multitasking abilities.\n\n- The tentacles attached to their heads are used to sense electrical currents in both air and water. Their length and thickness are likely the result of one of these evolved aesthetic traits, serving a similar aesthetic role to the hair found in many other OTN species.\n- The mouths they sport on their chests (colloquially known as \"Lipples\") likely evolved to better support their incredibly tight-knit communities and ability to hold multiple conversations at once. These lipples naturally lack some of the articulation found in the primary mouth located on the head, creating a secondary \"shorthand\" language found in many Orabian cultures. These \"Lipple Languages\" often consist of hard D sounds, rolled vowels, and extended O sounds.\n- Oraborans also naturally possess a large eye (and a varying number of smaller, flanking optics) located on the flat base of their tail. They often use this eye when the environment fogs their electrical seances - such as during heavy rainfall. They also use these eyes to scope out the large mega-fauna whilst swimming in the deep rivers and seas of their home world.\n- As far as we are aware, the Oraboran is the \"fastest-evolved\" member apart of the OTN, having appeared much earlier in their planetary timeline than other intelligent species within the network. [Comparatively, the 'first' Orabian would had appeared sometime around the early \"Dinosaurs\" in Earth's history.]\n- Despite resembling and having evolved from mollusk-like ancestors, the species is categorized as \"Theriosynapsida\". They possess a hybridized skin similar to some humanoids within the OTN, though with a slightly rougher- yet soft- scale-esque texture that makes their bodies naturally hydrophobic. The are also warm-blooded. \n\n\nFun Fact: The Oraborian \"figure\" has appeared in stories, myths, and folklore in almost every OTN member's mythological history. Stranger still, the articulated name for the respective member's cultures is almost always phonetically similar across the board. [Locrattson, Ah-loh-Orian, Leh'ftn, Lowdridian Crofter, etc.] Ironically, with the exception of the Oraborans themselves. \n\nFor example, Earth [the most recent OTN member], depicts their creature as \"Cthulhu\", credited to the writer \"Hp Lovecraft\". The term \"Lovecraftian\" was later popularized through their culture. (Granted, Earth's interpretation takes a considerably darker turn than the versions remembered by most OTN civilizations.)\n\nThis has resulted in the nick-name \"Little [Lovecraftians]\", as the real life Oraborans appear much shorter than their mythological counterparts. \n\nWorld Info: \nMoon Name: Shi-Nogohtoth. (She-Noh-goh-toth) \nParent Gas Giant: Ohn'n'Gah (On-nan-da-gah) \nSibling Moons: \n- Sord'oth (Sw-ohr-de'-oth) \n- Yangsoth-Ohn (Yang-Soth On) \n\nShi-Nogohtoth, (Shi), is a \"Riverbed Rain World\", a moon that orbits the largest gas giant in its solar system. \n\nThe planet's surface consists of several dozen inland seas with a vast multitude of river networks. 'Shi' is also known as the \"Dark Moon\" world due to its near-constant cloud cover and the relentless rainfall that blankets the world.\n\nThe Moon is in a unique Polar-Orbit around its parent Gas-Giant. The only significant dry periods that occur is when the moon crests over Ohn'n'Gah's North and South polls. Otherwise, clear sky's are often few and far between during the long rainy seasons. \n\nDue to the near-constant downpore, the hundreds of rivers that etch the moon's surface can shift, merge, and reroute themselves within only a few years time. Thusly, rivers are most often given segmented names. The prefix typically derived from the largest/ most \"dominant\" river in the region, while the suffix comes from the river that was \"eaten\". (Example: Dol-le-oth + Oll-ed-Dye = Dol-le-Dye.) \n\nBoth flora and fauna are notably darker than what's found on most OTN worlds. Trees, moss (no common 'grass'), and other plant-life are predominantly shades of dark; Blacks, Purples, Reds, and Blues. This is likely because the darker pigmentation help to absorb more sunlight through the heavy cloud cover. \n\nIn addition, much of the plant life on the planet emits bio-luminescence as a means to propagate. Luring in dozens of potential pollinators as a means to spread their seeds and pollen across the local biomes. Many animals (including the Oraborans) have adopted a similar bioluminescence to blend into their environments. \n\nShi is also home to some of the OTN's largest Megaflora. Among them is the Grand Neigh-Sing tree that towers over - and often shades - many of the Orabian cities. The branches of these trees contain natural channels along their upper surfaces. Their large, cup-like leaves collect rainwater and direct it into these channels, creating surprisingly dry areas beneath their canopies.\n\nMuch of the native flora also have long connected roots that bury deep within the Moon's surface, likely to help sturdy themselves against the strong wings, frequent mud-slides, and unstable terrain. Trees growing in mountainous regions are considered highly protected by the. Their roots help secure soil and rock, reducing erosion and limiting landslides in higher-altitude environments.\n\nMany of the trees that dot the mountains are considered highly protected by the Oraborans, as they help keep mountain ranges dry, and the dirt secure in their roots, which help lead to less-frequent land shifting in higher altitude regions. \n\nMany of Shi's riverbeds are as deep as some of the deepest oceans found on OTN member planets. The constantly changing riverbeds results in significant planet scarring from a satellite view near the coasts or large inland lakes. On land, abandoned rivers—whether caused by over-drainage into nearby seas or shifting waterways—often leave behind enormous canyons. During particularly intense rainy seasons, some of these a channels can partially refill, forming temporary lakes or even entirely new waterways.\n\nPosted using PostyBirb"
