"description": "MY PLACE s02:e62 - The Mayor Knows Best\n\nJune 10th 2014\n\n\nIt’s been a busy couple of days!\nUsually, the Mayor is thrown into somewhat of a slump whenever one of the residents move away, which can make me feel a little down as well. I’m not one to pry into what goes on beyond town hall, but he did tell me about Yuka and how unpleasant their final encounter turned out to be. After Mr Jitters left, however, he’s been in high spirits! Not to imply that he disliked Jitters or anything (I should certainly hope not!) but it’s clear that the two of them parted on good terms. \n\n\nThe Mayor’s speech at the opening ceremony of the streetlight was inspirational - and I truly mean that! It’s that kind of appreciation for his people and attention to detail when it comes to the town’s PWPs that make me confident to work alongside him.\n\n\nThat evening, he was excited to share with me his plan to open a police station, thanks to the suggestion of one of his close friends in the village. I needed no persuading to start doing some dedicated research that night to find the best officers possible. It’s not as if Place isn’t a safe place to live - far, FAR from it!! I’ve always known it to be such a pleasant little town, no matter what state it’s been in. A little law enforcement wouldn’t hurt though, if only to keep the residents feeling safe.\n\n\nHistorically, due to the village’s low crime rate, Place’s previous police station acted as more of a lost and found. The officer in charge would protrole the landscape daily, making him or her an excellent source of information for both residents and tourists. By the time the Mayor arrived to work this morning, I had found our man!\n\n\n“I did a little digging,” I said as he sat down in his chair, “and ultimately settled upon Officer Copper; he’s very well experienced and from what I’ve heard of his work ethic, I believe that he’s more than perfect for the job!”\n\n\n“Work ethic, huh?” the mayor asked, “I suppose that was what won you over?”\n\n\n“Well, his background alone was enough to convince me of his merit, he’s surprisingly versatile! But you simply can’t go wrong with a strong work ethic, Mayor. To be diligent is underrated if you ask me!”\n\n\nHe seemed to find this funny for some reason, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why.\n\n“Well,” he chuckled, “I do appreciate the time you took to find somebody, Isabelle, but you didn’t really need to bother in the end.”\n\n\n“I… I didn’t?”\n\n\n“Nope! Take a look at this!”\n\n\nHe handed me a slip of paper which detailed some information about a different policeman. I read it up and down as he carried on talking.\n\n\n“Booker is his name,” he said. “A lieutenant in his hay day, not just any regular bobby!”\n\n\n“I suppose that is a selling point…” I muttered. “But Mayor, this document is awfully vague. Are you sure you would rather go for this one over Copper?”\n\n\n“More than sure!” he smiled. “Besides, he was recommended to me by Vladimir after I told him about how we were gonna build a police station. Apparently, he’s had plenty of experience with the law and assured me that this guy was the best!”\n\n\n“Well, okay then... b-but Copper has such a strong attitude to his work and I really think--”\n\n\n“Don’t worry about it!” he assured me, his mood never faulting. “Booker was a lieutenant, remember? I bet his work ethic blew Copper’s out of the water, you’ll see!”\n\n\nI respected the mayor’s decision in the end. Afterall, it certainly isn’t my place to question his authority and, ultimately, this is his village and he gets to make the final say.\n\n…\n\nOh, but I just can’t shake that little niggling feeling at the back of my mind!\nI spent all night looking for the perfect policeman only for it to be for nothing! In fact, I’m sure I even came across Booker’s name in our records, but paid him little mind. Copper just sounded so much more attractive… from a professional standpoint of course!\n\nDespite how infectious I find the Mayor’s enthusiasm to be, I begrudgingly wrote Booker a letter requesting his services that night, along with all the necessary paperwork and such. I felt as if my opinion wasn't being considered, which I should be used to by now, but… \n\nI don’t know, I thought the new mayor was different…\n\n\n\n~Author’s Notes~\nI’m sorry for those who feel as if the recent uploads have been coming out at a more sluggish pace than usual. My enthusiasm for drawing has been waning a bit and it is sometimes hard to muster the enthusiasm multiple times a week.\n\n\nThat said, we’re on the precipice of moving on to the final stretch of season two! From here on, there should be much more momentum, plot wise.",
