But... as ideal as it is, Their reality is a timeframe of a couple seconds at this point. So I totally agree with that last statement, especially. It reminds us to keep perspective.\n\nWoulda-shoulda-coulda is all well and good. But a character's reaction is going to be true to their nature when reacting under the pressure of the moment. But then, Kass has shown they are aware of the need to consciously act instead of just react when in a moment of crisis. Their inner monologs has shown this before with fighting yinglet instincts internally. ...I think Kass's traumatic past is actually proving a Boone that way. I'm hopeful they'll realise the panic, take three seconds to hit pause and think, and then make conscious decisions. That -seems- to be their trained nature.\n\n...Which maybe they'll even start to realise is much more the mark of an effective warrior than a mere strength of limbs. As that's one thing their confidence has been struggling with.\n\nEdit; huh... speaking of 'time to think' ... I have just clicked on to the idea that this very dilemma of 'act versus react' is a very strong running theme of philosophy through this story. It is about a group of people who are all facing (and to varying levels, working to overcome) the instincts and stigmas of their nature in order to become something better. Though this is especially visible with Yannit as she is literally -driven- by instinct/programming. Even when she doesn't want to be. While Kalgurr also has instinctive responses his recent experiences have him trying to completely deny/suppress them. Those two show both sides of the toxicity coin. One is unhealthy suppression while the other is unhealthy submission. ...Who knows. The best course of action would be to check Isher's and Kalgkur's injuries, make sure Isher doesn't bleed out (Kass likely has some emergency field medicine skills from their time in the war), have her take Kalgkur to the medics (which would get her to focus and move beyond her own shock) or have Ran send for them, and then Kass can focus on getting to Yannit (having had Ran get the word out for other red cloaks to be on the look out for her, both for her safety and everyone else's). If Kass needs muscle, they can recruit the assistance of other Ivenmoth guards.
